Alena Jane Jordan Craft of Charlotte, NC slipped away into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 5, 2016, Labor Day.
She is survived by two brothers Rev. John D. Jordan of Thompkinsville, KY, and Rev. Robert J. Jordan of Lumberton. She is survived by her children; her eldest son USAF (Retired) Chaplain, Major, Bradford S. Phillips of Suwanee, GA, and stepson Mark A. Phillips, Jr. of Hope Mills, NC; stepdaughter Felicia A. Spencer of Fayetteville, NC and one grandson Timothy Wayne Phillips Jr. (TJ).
She was preceded in death by her youngest son Timothy Wayne Phillips of Rock Hill, SC in 2014.
Jane was a registered nurse both in North Carolina and Florida for 40 years working in home health care and in-patient hospital care. She loved to write poetry and sing worship songs. Her favorite passage was John 14:1-6 and her favorite hymns were “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” In college and afterwards she was a member of the local Little Theatre and starred in a long-running production of “The King and I.” She was always a joy to be around and loved to crochet clothing items for those she loved. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 9, 2016 at Western Prong Baptist Church at 167 Peacock Road in Whiteville, NC 28472. Rev. Robert Jordan of Zion's Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lumberton, NC, Rev. John Jordan of Thompkinsville, KY and the Monroe County Baptist Association, and Chaplain, Major Bradford S. Phillips (Retired) will preside over the service. Burial will be in Western Prong Baptist Church Cemetery. For questions or directions please call 910-642-4141.
Family and friends will be received Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Peacock Funeral Home located at 1227 South Madison Street, Whiteville, NC 28472 from 6:00-8:00 pm.
