Betty Harris

Betty L. Harris 78, of Lake Waccamaw died Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCare Center, Whiteville.  She was born October 14, 1938 in Clark County, VA the daughter of the late John S. Lichliter and Pearl Vance Lichliter. She formerly  owned and operated Shangri-la Beauty Shop in Lake Waccamaw.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Waccamaw.  Betty was a terrific mother and wife as well as a wonderful friend to all and a kind and loving person. Later in life she enjoyed exploring her artistic abilities.  Her endeavors included woodworking, wreath making and painting.

She is survived by her husband, Earl Harris; a son,  Ricky Harris of Lake Waccamaw; a daughter, Rita Harris Watts and husband, Barry of New Smyrna Beach FL; a brother, John Lichliter of Shallotte; a sister, Jane Denny and husband, Steve of Shallotte; two grandchildren, Kathleen Watts and Michael Todd Dawson; a great grandson, Michael Brock Dawson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters,Vickie Lynn Wilkerson and Cathy Sue Harris.

Her funeral service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, May 27, 2017 graveside at Lake Waccamaw Hillcrest Cemetery by Rev. Chuck Smith.
