Harold Dewitt Kinlaw, 77, of Whiteville died Friday, September 16, 2016. He was born in Columbus County on May 17, 1939, the son of the late Thomas Dewitt Kinlaw and Rosa Lee Powers Kinlaw. He was married to the late Flora Mae McCrackin Kinlaw.

He served 4 years in the Navy and retired from CP&L following 35 years of service.

He is survived by sons, Craven Kinlaw and fiance, Dana Shipman of Greensboro and Carson Kinlaw & wife, Susan of Whiteville; stepdaughters, Mary Hardee and husband, Richard of Concord and Gail Moose of Whiteville; grandchildren, Nicole Kinlaw, Bryson Rich, Justin Rich and Gabrielle Kinlaw; great-granddaughter, Bree Kinlaw; brothers, Edward Kinlaw and wife, Cynthia of Chadbourn, Willie Kinlaw and wife, Shellie of Conway, SC, Mack Kinlaw of Whiteville; sisters, Lillie Sealey and husband, Craven of Evergreen, Faye Truesdale and husband, Stephen of Whiteville, Kaye Jones of Whiteville.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers, Joseph, T.J., Daniel and Ray Kinlaw; sister, Shirley Kinlaw Stubbs.

Buddy's funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 pm Monday, September 19, 2016 at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Willard McPherson. Burial will be in Peacock's Columbus Memorial Park.

His family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Peacock Funeral Home.
