Harold Dean "Buddy" Simmons

Harold Dean "Buddy" Simmons, 73 of Whiteville died Sunday, May 7, 2017 in Columbus Regional Healthcare. He was born January 28, 1944 in Columbus County, the son of the late James Omega Simmons and Esther Canady Simmons.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Ann Ward Simmons; three brothers, Jerry Simmons, Edgar and Elton Canady; a sister, Sadie Long.

He was formerly employed with the sawmill division of  International Paper .

He is survived by a son, Jeffery Simmons and fiance, Miranda of Whiteville; two daughters, O'Shela Simmons Parks and husband, Kenneth Dale of Mt. Gilead; Crystal Simmons Caswell and fiance, Roderick of Whiteville; grandchildren, Jeffery Simmons of Whiteville, Gena Canady and husband, Kevin of Whiteville, Zachary Faulk of Whiteville; great grandchildren, Wesley Lee and Conrad Canady; stepmother, Vera Mae Simmons of Whiteville; brothers, James Simmons of Whiteville, Dean Simmons and wife, Tammy  of Whiteville, Tommy Simmons and wife, Doris of Chadbourn; sisters, Tina King and husband Ted of Ash, Carol Ward of Nakina.

His funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Cypress Creek Original Free Will  Baptist Church by Rev. Jeff Barton and Dr. Tommy Bryson.  Burial will be in the Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery. 

His family will receive friends 6:30 - 8:30 pm Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Peacock Funeral Home.
