James D. Tyree

Mr. James Douglas Tyree, 72, of Whiteville, died Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Columbus Regional Healthcare System. He was born October 28, 1944, the son of the late Clyde and Pearlie Stevens Tyree.

James worked for Myrtle Desk Furniture Company of Chadbourn for 17 years and was employed by Columbus County Waste Management for 10 years. He also worked several years at National Spinning.

He is survived by a son, Kevin Tyree of Whiteville; sister Ann Cartret and husband, Bob of Beaverdam; brothers, Norman Tyree and wife, Hazel of Whiteville, Winston Tyree and wife, Virginia of Whiteville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Long Tyree; his parents; and brothers, Wayne and Floyd Tyree.

His funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Peacock's Chapel by the Reverend Pete Cribb. Burial will be in Columbus Memorial Park. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
