John William Ward

                                                      John "Johnny" Ward
Mr. John "Johnny" William Ward 77, of Nakina died Saturday, May 21, 2016.  He was born October 27, 1938  in Columbus County the son of the late Asa Ward And Susie Mills Ward.

He was a member of Happy Home Baptist Church. He was active in the Nakina Boy Scouts of America from 1968 - 2010.  He was awarded the the Boy Scouts highest honor, the Silver Beaver award. 

He is survived by his wife of fifty seven years, Rosemary DiMaggio Ward; a daughter, Rita Francis and husband, Bill Francis of Chesapeake, VA; two sons, Douglas Ward of Chesapeake, VA and Michael Ward of Irving, TX; a granddaughter, Rachel Francis of Virginia Beach, VA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ottoway, Robert and Melvin Ward; sisters, Ethel Allen, Gladys Worley and Mazie Rhodes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Happy Home Baptist Church,c/o The Youth Fund,  P.O. Box 88, Nakina, NC 28455.

His funeral service will be Wednesday 5/25/2016, 3:oo pm at Happy Home Baptist Church. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church.
