Michael "Mike" Knox Newton

Michael "Mike" Knox Newton went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Thursday, November 10, 2016, at Hospice Angel House. He was born August 30, 1953 in Washington, D.C., the son of Jessie Sparks Newton and the late Louis Knox Newton.

Mike served four years active duty in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1971-1975. He served 19 years as a deacon at Grace Bible Church. Mike was working as a security guard at Southeastern Community College the last several years before losing his battle with cancer.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Grace Bible Church with Pastor Tony Ripley officiating.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Rosa Jacqueline Lye of Durham; mother, Jessie Sparks Newton; four brothers, Christopher K. Newton, Paul A. Newton, Mark A. Newton, Joseph B. Newton and wife, Sharon; sisters, Rebecca Lynn Newton and Mary Katherine Newton.
