Rev. William Edward Beking, 81, of Nakina, died Friday, May 6, 2016, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. He was born August 30, 1934 the son of the late Frederick Arsenal and Amelia Beking Stewart.
Following his service in the US Marine Corp, Mr. Beking was employed with W&W Electric Motor. He was also a retired minister of Chadbourn Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Ward Beking; daughters, Wendy Barefoot of Dover, PA, Denise Clewis and husband, Joe of Ash, Roxanne Coleman and husband, Cameron of Cerro Gordo, Faith Beking of Nakina; son, William Edward Beking, III of Whiteville; grandchildren, Edward Memory, Jonathan Pierce, Jaylyn Beking, Matthew Coleman and wife, April, Joshua Coleman and wife, Logan, Michael Coleman, Georganna Barefoot, Chevy Barefoot, and Ashley Chavis and husband, J.W., Destiny Clewis; great-grandchildren, Kennan Coleman, Gavin Barefoot, Kanoa Chavis, Jobryant Chavis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Terri Ann Beking.
His funeral service will be 3:00 pm Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Peacock's Chapel by the Rev. Roger Coffee and Rev. Ray Cartrette. Burial will follow in Columbus Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Peacock Funeral Home.
