Sylvia Poston Edwards, 83, of Whiteville died Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at her residence. She was born in Florence, SC the daughter of the late Samuel Huggins Poston and Vera Lou Miller Huggins Poston. She was a superior court reporter with the 13th Judicial District for 30 years.

 She is survived by a son, Samuel Todd Collins and wife, Lori of Whiteville; three daughters, Michelle Collins Blackwell and husband, Ken of Hurdle Mills, NC, Jenny Collins Smith of Warsaw, Jana T. Matzinger of Durham; five grandchildren, Buddy, Lori Jon, Kelly, Andrea, Michelle; and nine great-grandchildren.

Her family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 pm Friday, October 14, 2016 at Peacock Funeral Home. Burial will be in Johnsonville Cemetery in Hemingway, SC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 333 Jefferson St., Whiteville, NC 28472 and Columbus County Animal Shelter, 288 Legion Drive, Whiteville, NC 28472.
