Thelma Barnhill Barefoot

Mrs. Thelma Barnhill Barefoot, 83 of Whiteville died Saturday, November 5, 2016 in Lower Cape Fear Hospice & Lifecare Center, Whiteville.  She was born April 28, 1933 in Columbus County, the daughter of the late Noah McDuffie Barnhill and Rose Ella Alford Barnhill. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.  

Thelma is survived by a daughter, Teresa Barefoot Blackwell and husband, Jimmy of Whiteville; a son,  Robert Douglas Barefoot, Jr. of Whiteville; three grandchildren, Crystal Blackwell Baker of Whiteville, SFC Jason B. Blackwell and wife, Jessica of Fort Hood, TX, Adam Barefoot of Burgaw; four great grandchildren, Sidera, Makayla, Alyssa and Grant;  two sisters, Edna Carter and husband, Lennon of Chadbourn, Elsie Townsend and husband, David of Florence, SC; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Horace, Clyde, A.W., Lester, Mitchell, Vonnie and Lloyd Barnhill; four sisters, Inez Hewett, Pauline Boswell, Irene Thompson and Hazel Pope.

Her funeral service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Stephen Bailey.  Burial will be in Peacock's Columbus Memorial Park.

Her family will receive friends 6:30 - 8:30 pm Monday, November 7, 2016 at Peacock Funeral Home.
