Vicky Chestnutt

Vicky Chestnutt, 69, of Nakina died Thursday, April 28, 2016. She was born June 12, 1946 in Robeson County, the daughter of the late J. D. Dowless and the late Ima Smith Dowless. 

She graduated from Pembroke State University with a B.S. in Education. She taught in the Columbus County School System for 5 years.

She is survived by her husband, Carl W. Chestnutt; daughters, Sabrina Branch Ward and husband, Mike of Nakina, Sonya Branch Hyatt and Jamie Bullard of Whiteville, Carla Chestnutt Priest and husband, Robby of Elizabethtown; grandchildren, Garrett Ward, Tanner Hyatt, Hunter Hyatt, Trevor Pridgen, Tori Chestnutt, Cara Priest, Ryne Priest; sisters, Sarah Callahan and husband, Frank of Lumberton, Peggy Taylor and husband, Jackie of Lumberton.

Her funeral will be at 11:00 am Monday, May 2, 2016 at Peacock's Chapel by the Rev. Mark Hughes. Burial will be in Williamson Family Cemetery in Nakina.

Her family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Peacock Funeral Home. 

Serving as pallbearers are Tanner Hyatt, Hunter Hyatt, Garrett Ward, Terry Chestnutt, Scottie Callahan, and Kurt Best. Honorary pallbearers are Jackie Taylor, Jr., Brian Chestnutt, Scott Chestnutt, and Jason Chestnutt.
