Jesse Elder Long

Jesse Elder Long 81, of Crusoe Island, Whiteville passed on Friday, March 8, 2024 at his home. He was born April 23, 1942 in Columbus County, the son of the late Thomas Madison Long and Odie Geneva Etheridge Long.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Rev. Thomas Leroy Long, a sister, Shirley Long Smith.

Mr. Long was employed with  Sew It Seams until his retirement after 35 years.  He was a family man and will be missed by all.

He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Long (Ricky) and Anita Hyatt (Richard) all of Crusoe Island; a sister, Teresa Etheridge (Jeff) of Crusoe Island; grandchildren, Raymond Long and Mark Hyatt; great grandchildren, Madison Long Raylen Long and Memphis Hyatt.

His funeral service will be at2:00 pm Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Magnolia Baptist Church with Ervin Etheridge officiating.  Burial will be in the Etheridge Cemetery.

His family will receive friends one hour prior to his service at the church.
