Carole Short

Carole Gaskin Short 71, of Whiteville went to be with the Lord Saturday evening, September 9, 2017 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & Lifecare Center, Whiteville. She was born August 26, 1946 in Harnett County, NC the daughter of the late James Clarence Gaskin and Gertha Baker Gaskin.  

Mrs. Short co-owned and operated with her husband and family,  Short Bros. Auto Sales, Inc. in Whiteville.

She is survived by her husband, Herbert "Ray" Short; a son,  Scott Short and wife, Rosita of Whiteville; two daughters, Christy Stocks and husband, Jeffery of Chadbourn; Carrie Burney and husband, Todd of Clarkton; two sisters, Vicki Stephens and husband, Dewey of Angier; Suvon Gandy and husband, Dewayne of Angier;  five grandchildren, Morgan Short, Jennifer Stocks, Allison Short, Ashleigh Stocks and Jolie Burney.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, J. C. Gaskin; a sister, Ollie Fay Mangum.

Her funeral service will be at 11:00 am Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ryan Clore, Rev. Joe Washburn and Rev. Willard McPherson officiating.  Burial will be in Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Peacock Funeral Home.
