David Wayne Thompson

David Wayne Thompson 71, of Whiteville died Thursday, May 4, 2017 at his home.  He was born in Columbus County, the son of Mrs. Ruby Walker Thompson of Whiteville and the late Leroy Thompson.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances Benton Thompson, daughter, Andrea Gale Thompson,  a grandson, Samuel Ray Thompson, brother, Harold Dane Thompson, and sister, Dianne Thompson Searcy.

He retired from Dupont after thirty years of employment. He also served in the United States Navy.

He is survived by a son, Roy Wayne Thompson and wife, Samantha of Whiteville; his mother, Ruby Walker Thompson of Whiteville; grandchildren, Benjamin Zayne Thompson, Caleb Walker Thompson and Chloe Elizabeth Thompson; brother-in-law, Phil Searcy of Rocky Point.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm  Monday, May 8, 2017 in Columbus Memorial Park by Rev. Ray Yow.
