Doris Ward Butler

Mrs. Doris Ward Butler, 80, of Nakina died Wednesday, March 21, 2018 in Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Whiteville, NC.  She was born September 18, 1937 in Columbus County, the daughter of the late Leamon C. Ward and Cleo Gore Ward. 

Mrs. Butler graduated from East Carolina University with an Associate Degree.  She was the Office Manager at Wells and Rick Edwards Cheverolet and was formerly employed with the Edward Jones Company and BB&T.  She was a Charter Member of Nakina Baptist Church, choir member, and Secretary of WMU.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Royce Butler; two sons, Revice Butler and wife, Lou Ann, of N. Myrtle Beach, Rhett Butler and wife, Hannah of Winterville, NC; grandchildren, Josh Butler and wife, Morgan of Matthews, NC, Olivia Butler of Elizabethtown, Cleo Butler of Winterville, NC, Toben Butler of Winterville, NC; great grandchild, Norah Butler; one sister, Hilda Butler and husband, Carl of Whiteville; one brother, L.C. Ward and wife, Deana, of Nakina.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Her funeral service will be Friday, March 23, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Nakina Baptist Church by Rev. Darryll Hester.  Burial will be in the Columbus Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, March 22, 2018 at Peacock Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm.
