Doris J. Hunt

Doris O'Neal Hunt, 90 of Council died Thursday, April 12, 2018 in Elizabethtown Nursing Center.  She was born  August 19, 1927 in Bladen County, the daughter of  Lewis and Rhodia Ann Jacobs.  

Doris was formerly a CNA with Premier Living and was a social worker with the New Hanover Department of Social Services.  She also received a cosmetology degree from Troutman's Beauty School in Wilmington.   She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Bolton.

She is survived by a daughter, Janice Hunt Smith; a granddaughter, Angela Smith; a great granddaughter, Meghan Godwin; a sister,Ada Rogers,

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Leon Jacobs; four sisters, Vivian Morrison, Agnes Brewington, Alma Brewington, and Vernie Wynn. 

Her funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm Sunday, April 15, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Don Carter and Rev. Mike Jacobs.  Burial will be in the Red Hill Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends 2:00 - 3:00 pm Sunday prior to her service at New Hope Baptist Church.
