Elva (Carteret) Harris

Ms. Elva Carteret Harris 90, of Whiteville went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 18, 2020 at Liberty Hospice.  She was born October 24, 1929 in Columbus County, the daughter of the late Leon D. Carteret and Lula Duncan Carteret. 

Elva was a long time member of Trinity Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and member of the WMU.  She loved her church with all of her heart and was a tremendous Missionary for her Lord and Savior

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rackley Harris; sons, Gene Harris, Thurman Harris; daughter, Mary H. Eakins; parents; brothers, JB Carteret, Homer Carteret, Woodrow Carteret; sisters, Betty Jo Buffkin, Eva Mae Nobles, Dora B. Davis; sister-in-law, Candy Carteret.

She is survived by her sons, George "Buddy" Harris of Hertford, NC, Avery Harris and wife, Peggy of Taylors, SC, Harold Harris of Lumberton, NC; daughter, Martha Harris of Whiteville, NC; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Speight and Rev. Willard McPherson officiating.

Visitation will be from 1-2 pm Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Trinity Baptist Church.

Interment will be at Western Prong Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the service.
