SGT Floyd Malcom “FM” Allen, Jr. RET, 76, died peacefully in his Buckhead home Monday, December 9, 2019. He was born July 8, 1943 in Tallahassee, Florida the son of the late Floyd Malcom Allen, Sr. and Onida Benton Allen.
Sgt. Allen served in the United States Army during Vietnam, was honorably discharged and decorated with a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was in the Army Reserves where he was a Commandant of a Drill School. He was a Deputy with the Columbus County Sherriff’s Department for 16 years and the Owner/Operator of Allen’s Trucking Company. He served the Buckhead Community as the Assistant Fire Chief. He was a Christian man who loved the Lord and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carlene Jacobs Allen of the home; one daughter, Barbara Sessions and husband, Lonnie of Bolton; two grandsons, Trenton Allen and Jacob Baldwin.
His funeral service with military honors will be conducted 2:00 pm Friday, December 13, 2019 at New Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Don Carter, Rev. Mike Jacobs and Rev. Howard Jacobs.
His family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Peacock Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Red Hill Cemetery.
