Gayle (Long) Hayes

Gayle Long Hayes "Nanny", age 60 of Georgetown, SC passed away peacefully on January 8, 2019 in her home after a long, five year battle against breast cancer. She was born to Lula N. Long and the late Signal P. Long on December 09, 1958. 

Gayle grew up in Whiteville, NC where she met the love of her life, Richard Hayes. The two married on December 10, 1976 and later moved to Georgetown, SC in 1997 where they enjoyed spending their lives together and raising their three children. 

A loving wife, mother, and homemaker, Gayle always went above and beyond for her children and grandchildren. She was very proud of her family and enjoyed attending their school and sporting events as well as taking family trips together making wonderful memories. Her life had many obstacles and she struggled years with a devastating illness, yet through it all her love and caring for her family remained her main focus. She was a strong, stubborn woman who instilled strong values, the importance of family, faith, hard work, generosity, and love. 

She is survived by her husband of forty-two years; two sons Ricky Hayes of Georgetown, SC and Ethan Hayes (Erin) of Georgetown, SC; and one daughter Jessica Lambert (John) of Georgetown, SC along with four loving grandchildren Landon Hayes, Layla Hayes, Gabriel Hayes, and Trevin Lambert. She is also survived by two brothers David Long (Faye) of Nakina, NC and Tim Long (Crystal) of Raleigh, NC; and her sister Melissa Benton of Nakina, NC; as well as her mother-n-law and numerous brother/sister-n-laws and nieces/nephews that love her very much.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Peacock Funeral Home of Nakina, NC from 6:00pm-8:00pm. 

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00am followed by burial in the Hayes Family Cemetery. 

Her family will receive friends at their home in Georgetown, SC on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 3:00pm-5:00pm.
