I knew Gene back in the late 60's. When him and Allen Blackmon use to hang around together. Myself and Jerry Ward would come to Whiteville from Wilmington on the weekends and hang around with Gene and Allen some. Gene was always a very caring and soft spoken guy..My thoughts and prayer's for the family...God Bless...

I feel compassion for your whole family Gene. May you rest in peace. We go back to the early 70's when I married your childhood friend. Life is a journey we only get to do once. Gene was a member of our family for a long time...divorce never changed that fact. We will all miss that handsome face, that mischievious smile, that big heart, and that gift of music and singing. I am very saddened at the loss of Gene. I haven't seen him in many years but we had some good times together...Myself, Gene, Stanley Baldwin and Allen Blackmon. This was back in the 60's. Gene was such a good person or he might have gotten mad when I tore the transmission out of his Z28 that Saturday night. It's just hard to believe he's gone.
