Gladys (Jordan) Ezzell

Mrs. Gladys Jordan Ezzell, 81, of Wilmington, formerly of Old Dock died Tuesday, November 13, 2018 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center.  She was born March 7, 1937  in Columbus County the daughter of the late Henry Jordan and Ruth Reynolds Jordan.  She was the widow of William Hubert Ezzell.  

Mrs. Ezzell was a member of Palmyra Baptist Church.  She received a BA degree in Psychology and Sociology from Pembroke University in 1980.  She was a member of the Whiteville Professional Women's Club.   She was formerly the manager of the Stitchin' Post & Classic Creations in Whiteville.  She was President of the Residents Council at Liberty Commons in Wilmington.  Gladys operated a beauty shop in Old Dock from 1964 to 1974.

Mrs. Ezzell never met a stranger and was encouraging to everyone.  She loved to yodel for people.

She is survived by a son,  Steve Ezzell and wife, Janice of Leland; a daughter, Kim Ray and husband, Larry of Nakina; grandchildren, Kristen Holt and husband,  Dave of Leland, Jason Ezzell and wife, Kelly of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Nicole Fowler and husband, Dustin of Clarendon, M.J. Philippbar and husband, Matt of Leland, Erin Stone and husband, Austin of Bladenboro; great grandchildren, Camden Holt, Airlie Holt, Harper Ezzell, Ella Fowler, Emmi Fowler, Mattie Philippbar, Joely Philippbar, Eli Stone, Jude Stone, Boone Stone; three sisters, Virginia Simmons of Old Dock, Evelyn Sasser of Ocean Isle, Lois Williamson of Sumter, SC.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; two brothers, Edward and Junior Jordan; two sisters, Christine Ramsey and Elizabeth Kinney.

Her funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Palmyra Baptist Church by Rev. Dave Holt and Rev. John Roberson.  Burial will be in Peacock's Columbus Memorial Park.

Her family will receive friends 6:30 - 8:30 pm Friday, November 16, 2018 at Peacock Funeral Home.
