Gladys (Lee) Hinson

Gladys Lee Hinson age 93, a long time resident of Whiteville, NC, died Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern.

She was born August 20, 1925 in Conway, SC, the youngest of seven children, to the late JW and Lizzie Lee.

She lived her entire adult life on the family farm, at 9302 James B. White Highway South.  She married in 1950 and spent her early years as a homemaker.

She spent her professional career at Williams Township School, starting in the lunch room, and eventually holding the position of school secretary for over 20 years.  She was an active member of Lebanon United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Henry M. Hinson; parents; brothers, Alton Lee, George Lee, Joe Lee, Ernest Lee; sisters, Pearl Hudson and Grace Gross.

She is survived by her son, Scott Hinson, and his wife, Sue of Trent Woods, NC, grand-daughters, Taylor Hinson-Stewart and husband, Alan of Trent Woods, NC and Dr. Hannah Lee Hinson of Blacksburg, VA, 14 nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Lebanon Cemetery at 11:00 am with a reception following in the church fellowship hall on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. www.peacockfuneralhome.net
