Mr. James Allen "Jack" Smith, 79 of Whiteville went to be with his Lord Thursday, November 7, 2019 at UNC Hospital. He was born October 29, 1940 in Columbus County, the son of the late Braxton and Lillie Ikner Smith.
Jack served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He attended Mission Valley Original Free Will Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and faithfully served him for 27 years. A retired carpenter, Jack enjoyed singing and playing his guitar in church, hunting, fishing and racing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ed, Ethell, Ezra, Odell, Rudolph and Lucky Smith; sisters, Ilamae Tyner, Ruby Pait, Lucille Garrell, Marjorie Smith and Betty Nealey.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Nealey Smith; daughters, Kimberly Smith Page and husband, Paul Jr. of Whiteville, Michelle Smith Norris of Whiteville; grandchildren, Amber Page Strickland and husband, Anthony of Tabor City, Joshua Page of Whiteville, Matthew Page of Chadbourn; great grandchildren, Gracelyn Strickland, Colt Allen Strickland, named after his PaPa; sister, Ruth S. Nance of Chadbourn.
His funeral service will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday, November 11, 2019 at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Paul Lambert.
The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Peacock Funeral Home.
