Jerry F. Cartrette

Jerry Fredrick Cartrette 73, of Whiteville died Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Columbus Regional Healthcare System.  He was born June 26, 1944 in Columbus County, the son of the late Clarence Cartrette and Martha Richardson Cartrette.

Mr. Cartrette was a veteran of the US Marine Corps having served in the Vietnam War.  He was formerly employed with DuPont.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, LCpl Floyd Gregg Cartrette; brothers, Thurman (Jack) Cartrette and James Cartrette; sister, Brenda Creech.

He is survived by  his wife, Virginia Creech Cartrette; two daughters, Jerri Lynn Cartrette of Shallotte and  Sophia Lea Cartrette of Whiteville; brother, Herman "Joe"  Cartrette of Nakina; sisters, Cecil McCumbee of Tabor City and Lucille Sellers of Whiteville; grandchildren, Joshua Priest, Andrew Priest, Jerri Ann Cartrette; great grandchildren, Joshua Priest II, Grace Priest, Haedyn Priest, Lexie Greene, Isaiah Lovette, Bradley Lenore Lovette.

His funeral service will be 3:00 pm Friday, March 16, 2018 at Beaverdam Baptist Church by Rev. Buddy Seay and Rev. Mitchell Smith. Burial with military honors will be in the Creech Cemetery.

His family will receive friends 6:30 - 8:30 pm Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Peacock Funeral Home.
