K.M. Simmons

Mr. K.M. Simmons, Jr. 69, of Whiteville went to meet his Heavenly Father Thursday, December 12, 2019.  He was born September 6, 1950 in Columbus County the son of the late Kivie McRay Simmons, Sr. and Louie Belle Hughes Simmons.

Mr. Simmons was a member of the Lebanon Masonic Lodge #207 of Whiteville.  He was a member of Old Dock Methodist Church where he served as a Lay Leader.  KM received his Bachelors Degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and Master’s Degree from the University of South Carolina. He was a retired teacher from Old Dock Elementary School.  He was the President of the Old Dock Hunting Club and a member of the Advisory Board for Southeastern Community College and Nakina Middle School.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sonda Evans Simmons; son, Kevin Simmons & wife, Jamie of Whiteville; grandson, Case Simmons; sister, Loudella Babson of Ash; brother-in-law, Jimmy Evans and wife, Melissa of Whiteville; sister-in-law, Jackie Gore of Nakina.

His funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Monday, December 16, 2019 at Old Dock Methodist Church by Rev. Ken Sides.  

Burial will be in the Old Dock Methodist Church Cemetery.

His family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Peacock Funeral Home.
