Lucy Burline Suggs Stocks

Mrs. Lucy Burline Stocks 92, of Whiteville died Friday, April 27, 2018 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center.  She was born October 20, 1925 in Columbus County, the daughter of the late William Kirby Suggs and O'Lena Formyduval Suggs.  She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Stocks; granddaughter, Jennifer Lena Stocks; brothers, J. W. Suggs and Duval Suggs; a sister, Myrtis Turbeville.

Mrs. Stocks was a member of First Baptist Church for seventy years and participated in many church activities. She formerly worked with Mann's in Whiteville.

She is survived by two sons, Donald L. Stocks and wife, Julie of Lake Waccamaw, Ronald Stocks and wife, Ramona of Ocean Isle Beach, a daughter, Gloria S. Chatham of Whiteville, grandchildren, Donald Byrne Stocks and wife, Olivia of Ocean Isle Beach, Billy Chatham and his father, William Chatham, Jr. of Douglasville, GA; two great grandchildren, Lena Grace Stocks and William Laythan Stocks of Ocean Isle Beach.

Her funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday, April 30, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Whiteville. Her family will receive friends 5:00 - 7:00 pm Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Peacock Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.
