Lula Norris Long, 82, of Nakina, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. She was born November 24, 1937 in Horry County, the daughter of the late Eddie and Floria Soles Norris.
Lula "Lou" grew up in Loris/Greensea, SC. She met her "Lover Boy", Signal B. Long, from Nakina, NC and the two were married on August 4, 1958 and they started their lives together on the family farm. God, family, friends and her little dog, Cody, were the most important things in her life. She was a strong, independent, hardworking, caring and loving woman, she loved her family unconditionally. All she wanted in life was for her babies and family to be together and happy with each other.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Gayle Hayes, grandson, Joshua Benton and her parents.
She is survived her daughter, Melissa Benton and Donald Reaves of Nakina; two sons, David Long and wife, Faye, Tim Long and wife Crystal all of Nakina; seven grandchildren, Ricky Hayes, Chris Long, Ashley Long, Jessica Lambert and husband, John, Ethan Hayes and wife, Erin, Nathan Benton and Kayla Bryant, Kaylee Reaves; three great grandchildren, Layla Hayes, Landon Hayes, Gabriel Hayes; sister by heart, Diane Clark Berry.
Her funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Nakina Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Peacock Funeral Home.
The family will be gathering at her home.
