Mae Hayes Register

Mae Hayes Register 80, of Leland, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 at her residence.

She was born September 17, 1936 in Columbus County, NC. The daughter of the late Neal Hayes and Martha Jane Bailey Hayes.  She was previously employed with Dupont in Leland for 10 years and Garst Drapery in Wilmington.  She was a member of the Leland First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Linwood Register, Sr.; a son, Linwood Register, Jr.; Brothers, Leon Hayes, Alex Hayes, and Joe Hayes; Sisters, Eloise Dale and Louise Callihan. 

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Rackley and husband, John of Rocky Point, Katherine Piner and husband, Allen of Wallace, Sylvia Sawyer and husband, Wayne of Hampsted; Son, Eric Register and wife, Shelley of Leland; grandchildren, Melissa Martin, Jennifer Whittley, Kevin Piner, Bryan Sanders, Nathan Sawyer, Jeremy Sawyer, Tyler Register, Carley Register; great grandchildren,Isabella Sanders, Morgan Thomas, Jordan Thomas, Owen Whittley, Gavin Whittley, Landon Whittley, and Madison Sawyer.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 6:30-8:30 pm at Peacock Funeral Home.

Her funeral will be 11:00 am Friday, September 8, 2017 at Peacock's Chapel by Rev. Chip Hannah.  Burial will be in Columbus Memorial Park Cemetery.
