Mary Ellen (Martin) Russell

Mary Ellen Russell 95, of Lake Waccamaw went to be with her Lord on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Lifecare Center, Whiteville.  She was born January 1, 1922  in Wananish.  She was the daughter of the late Henry Joseph Martin and Molly Strickland Martin.  She was the widow of the late Lonnie James Russell. 

Mrs. Russell was a member of Lake Waccamaw United Methodist Church for 84 years.  She was formerly employed with Council Tool Co. at Lake Waccamaw.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband,  two sons, Richard Russell and Dolan Russell, brothers, Elwood, Johnny, Woodrow, Corbett and Waldo Martin, a sister, Ila Belle Boyles.

She is survived by her son, Harold Russell and wife, Judy of Wilmington; six grandchildren, David Russell and wife, Camila of Leland, Jay Russell and wife, Dawn of Fuquay Varina, LaGrande Russell and wife, Melisha of Lake Waccamaw, Karen Hall and husband, Jack of Ocean Isle, D. J. Russell and wife, Ella of Newberry, SC, Tara Lynn Salesses and husband, Bob of Alexandria, VA; twelve great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Annie Lee Russell of Hallsboro.

Her funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Lake Waccamaw United Methodist Church by Rev. Chuck Smith.  Burial will be in the Lake Waccamaw Hillcrest Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends 12:00 noon - 1:00 pm, Tuesday, November 21, 2017,  at Lake Waccamaw United Methodist Church.
