SGM John Adolph Horniak, Jr. RET

Sergeant Major John Adolph Horniak,Jr., 82, of Whiteville died Thursday, September 28, 2017 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center.  He was born in France on February 15, 1935, the son of late John Adolph Horniak,Sr. and the late Katherine Horniak.  He was a decorated veteran of the US Army, serving two tours in Vietnam and earning a Bronze Star.  He retired after dedicating thirty-three years to serving the United States.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Sellers Horniak and his parents. 

He is survived by his two daughters, Cathleen and Nicole Horniak of Whiteville; two sons, William Horniak and wife, Amal of Burnsville, John Christopher Horniak and wife, Shelly of Bolivia; grandchildren, Sasha and Seth; great-grandchildren, Nadia, Julian, and Khalil. 

His arrangements will be announced by Peacock Funeral Home.
