Barbara Simmons Carroll, of Lake Waccamaw, peacefully entered into her eternal rest on June 30, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on February 12, 1942, in Whiteville, North Carolina, Barbara found peace in the simple pleasures of life - antique scouting trips, spending time outdoors tending to her yard, and watching the hummingbirds gather at the feeders she devotedly kept filled. She was also a true believer in her faith; a longtime and dedicated member of First Baptist Church at Lake Waccamaw.
Barbara shared a beautiful love story with her husband, who was not only the love of her life but also her lifelong best friend. Together, they built a life centered on Jesus, family, and togetherness. Nothing brought her greater joy than having everyone gathered together, filling her home with laughter, love, and the comforting aroma of a home-cooked meal. There was always room at her table, where stories were shared, traditions were passed down, and memories were made that will be treasured for generations. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the apples of her eye. She found immense joy in celebrating their accomplishments, spoiling them whenever she could, and surrounding them with unwavering love. The legacy she created will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to gather there.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Frank Carroll; son, Stuart Carroll and wife Judy of Lake Waccamaw; daughter, Cindy Carroll of the home; grandchildren, Lindsay Carroll-Kern and husband Derek, Madison Carroll, Kelsey Carroll; great-grandchildren, Lahna Kern, Tripp Kern, Jaxen Kern, Seylea Kern, Holden Carroll; sister, Esther Batten of Whiteville; many beloved nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Connie Simmons; brother, Wesley Simmons; sister Verli Creech.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Peacock Funeral Home in Whiteville, NC.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Chris Eason officiating. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for a graveside committal and burial at Shiloh Memorial Methodist Church in Bolton, NC.
