Barbara (Jacobs) Walker

Barbara Ann Jacobs Walker, 69, of Whiteville, North Carolina entered eternal rest Tuesday May 2, 2023 peacefully at her home. She was born October 11, 1953 in Columbus County, NC to the late Floyd Jacobs and Latha Reaves Jacobs of Nakina.

A beloved member and secretary of Abundant Life Assembly of God in Whiteville, Barbara spent many years traveling the world while operating and managing Walker Trucking with her late husband Larry Walker. In recent years, Barbara devoted her time to watching her great-grandchildren Ryleigh, Brayden, and Addisyn Bunch of Whiteville. 

Full of life and personality, Barbara loved finding the perfect shot with her camera, putting her baking skills to test with new recipes, planning annual trips with her ladies, and being Dustin and Ryleigh’s “unofficial” bus driver to their shows. 

She is survived by her son, Brian Smith and his wife, Amy of Evergreen, NC; her daughters, Kristy Walters (Jamie) of Tabor City, NC and Sandi Chapman and her husband, Mark of Whiteville, NC; her brother, Larry Jacobs and his wife, Joyce of Shallotte, NC; her grandchildren, Kayla Bunch (Justin) Anthony Chapman, Dustin Chapman, Tyler Clewis, Savannah Rittenhouse (Kynston), Morgan Lee (Cody), T.J Walters, Jace Walters and Logan Smith and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Along with her family, Barbara is survived by many spiritual sisters that she called the “Groovin’ Grannies.” 

Her visitation will be held Thursday, 5/4/2023,  6 - 8pm at the Peacock Funeral Home.

Her funeral service will be held Friday, 5/5/2023, 2pm at Abundant Life Assembly of God with Pastors John Beattie and Roger Coffey officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Walker Cemetery on Pinelog Rd., Whiteville, NC.
