Betty (Blanton) Furman

Ms. Betty Blanton Furman, 88, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 24, 2020, after many years of struggling with Alzheimer’s.  She was born August 14, 1932 in Summerville, SC, the daughter of the late Siftley Benjamin Blanton and Dorothy Hobbs Blanton.

Betty graduated from Winthrope College and worked at Newport News Shipbuilding for over 27 years as a secretary for a large group of engineers.  After retiring she resided in Yorktown, VA and spent time with her husband sailing, enjoying her yard, playing with her grandchildren and devoting time with her mom.

She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, Warren Roger Furman and past husband, Bruce Aubrey Clark.

Her funeral service will be held graveside at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Lake Waccamaw on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 3:00 pm.

She is remembered with love by her daughter, Nora Clark Edwards and husband, Kevin of Suffolk, VA; two grandchildren, Michael Kevin Edwards, Jr. and wife, Kristy, Nicole Aubrey Hogman and husband, Tyler; two great grandchildren, Abigail Lindsey Edwards and Ava Marie Edwards.
