Betty Arp Moss, 82, of Whiteville, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024. She was born January 9, 1941 in Columbus County, the daughter of the late Richard Crowell Arp, Sr. and the late Gracie R. Reaves. She was a former employee of Columbus Regional Medical Center for seventeen plus years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with her pets.
She is survived by two daughters, Debra A. Powell (Paul) of Whiteville, and Angela M. Baldwin of Hallsboro; a son, Charles Darwin Moss (Tammy) of Hallsboro ; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband, James O. Moss, Sr.; a son, James O. Moss, Jr.; a grandson, William Clayton Alexander Baldwin; four brothers and three sisters.
The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
The family would like to express a special thanks to her caregiver, Patricia Lewis, who was a valued assistant and friend to the family; the staff of Interim HealthCare of Whiteville; and her nurse, Gracelyn Fonvielle and other staff members of Gentiva Hospice.
