Betty Merle Clayter Hagood, 85, of Delco passed away Tuesday February 17, 2026 in her home. She was under the care of Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care. She was born December 26, 1940, the daughter of the late Irvin Clayter and Retha Suggs Clayter. She worked for many years at Federal Paper Company and was a standing member of Delco Pentecostal Freewill  Church.

She is survived by her husband, James Hagood; sister-in-laws, Linda Clayter and Sue Clayter; granchildren, Hunter Hagood, Caden Hagood, Chloe Hagood and Noah Craven; stepdaughter, Mary Jo Craven, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Billy Clayter, Elwood Clayter, Horton Clayter and Sonny Clayter; sisters, Hilda Muse and Shirley O'Neal; nephew, Glenn Marvin; step-son, Clay Hagood.

Her funeral service will be held Friday, February 20, 2026 at 12:00pm at Delco Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to her service at the church. Burial will follow in the Delco Cemetery.
