Mr. Burmey Paul Ward, Jr. 82, of Whiteville died Thursday, July 18, 2019 at his home. He was born May 15, 1937 in Columbus County the son of the late Paul Ward, Sr. and Earline Ward.
Mr. Ward was a long distance truck driver, a farmer and brick mason. He formerly owned and operated BP Ward Trucking Co. He was currently employed with Steve Edwards Trucking Co.
He is survived by a daughter, Paula Ward Clifton and husband, Greg of Chadbourn; four grandchildren, Ashley Ward, Chase Clifton, Jacob Clifton and Isabella Clifton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella Duncan Ward; parents; sisters, Kathleen Garrell, Eloise Garrell, Vann Benton, Shirley Walker, Janice Long; brothers, Jerry Ward and Joe Ward.
His funeral service will be at 3:00 pm Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Willard McPherson. Burial will be in Western Prong Baptist Church Cemetery.
His family will receive friends 6:30 - 8:30 pm Monday, July 22, 2019 at Peacock Funeral Home.
