Carmen Stallings Obituary

Carmen Marie Shamblin Stallings of Whiteville, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on February 27, 2026.


Carmen was a devoted wife, proud mother, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved deeply and without hesitation. She is survived by her loving husband, Ashby Louis “Chip” Stallings, whom she adored and was proud to stand beside. Their love was evident to everyone who knew them.


She is also survived by her daughters, Chelsea Phipps and Aubry Phipps of Florence, SC. Carmen celebrated their creativity, supported their passions, and made sure they always knew how deeply they were loved.


Carmen is survived by her father, Dr. David Shamblin of Coolville, Ohio. She was a true daddy’s girl, and those who knew them understood the special bond they shared. She reflected so many of his qualities — strong, kind, and giving. She is also survived by her stepmother, Angela Shamblin of Coolville, Ohio, who was not only family but also a close friend for nearly twenty years.


She is further survived by her stepchildren, Jessica (Adam) Geis of Salisbury, Maryland, and Mathew Stallings of Little River, South Carolina; and by her grandchildren, Ah’nyah, An’tonyoh, Adam Jr. Geis, and Tucker Stallings.


Carmen is also survived by her siblings Ally Cardenas, Alex (Ben) Foster, and Taylor Shamblin, whom she lovingly embraced as their big sister, along with four nephews, all of Ohio, and many extended family members and dear friends.


She is preceded in death by her mother Joyce Hatfield Shamblin of Beckley, WV. Who passed away in 1989.


A proud member of the Blue Iron Motorcycle Club, Carmen valued the deep friendships and sense of family it brought into her life. She was employed by Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. in the role of a quality control and She cherished the camaraderie and community that surrounded her. Known for her strong spirit, generous heart, and joyful personality, Carmen loved fully and lived intentionally. She was a Christian, and her family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace.


Though her time here was far too short, the love she gave so freely will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. 


Her family will receive friends on Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Peacock Funeral Home.


Her funeral service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 3:30pm at Abundant Life Church in Whiteville.
