Charles Ray Mercer, 78, of Lake Waccamaw passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025 in Pikeville, NC while residing with his daughter. He was born December 21, 1946 in Robeson County, the son of the late David and Ethel McCumbee Mercer. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his son, Randy Mercer ( Robin) of Old Dock; a daughter, Kimberly Mercer Boswell (Franklin) of Pikeville; a brother-in-law, Randall Etheridge (Ann) of Lake Waccamaw; grandchildren, Landon Coleman, Samantha Mercer, Chase Mercer, Evan Mercer; step-grandchildren, Cortney B. Laub and Cameron Boswell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Etheridge Mercer and his parents.
His funeral service with military honors will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, May, 7, 2025 at Peacock Funeral Home's Chapel with the Rev. Frank Lane officiating. Burial will follow in the Lake Waccamaw Hillcrest Cemetery.
His family will receive friends one hour prior to his service at Peacock Funeral Home.
