Charles Edwin Stephens

Mr. Charles Edwin Stephens 84, of Whiteville passed on April 6, 2022 at his home.  He was born January 11, 1938 in Columbus County, the son of the late Roland Stephens and Nancy Thompson Stephens. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Lois Simmons Stephens. 

Most commonly known as Edwin, he was loved by everyone that knew him and never met a stranger.  He was always willing and eager to help others no matter what their need. He cherished his family and will be greatly missed. Although there is a huge void in the family, they find comfort in knowing they will see him again one day when they also reach their heavenly home.

Edwin was a service repairman with Sears for more than 30 years.  He was a member of Peace Baptist Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Stephens McCormick and husband, Perry of Whiteville; a granddaughter, Brandie Kalinowski and husband, Paul of Alexandria, VA; a grandson, Brian McCormick and fiance, Maria of Holly Springs; a great granddaughter, Natalie McCormick of Holly Springs.

His funeral service will be at 4:00 pm Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chip Hannah officiating. Burial will be in Peacock's Columbus Memorial Park.

His family will receive friends 2:30 - 4:00 pm Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the funeral Home.
