Clara Vaughn Ray White, 93 of Columbus County passed on December 2, 2025. She was born May 28, 1932 in Columbus County, the daughter of the late Seymour Ray and Ona V. Jenrette Ray.

Clara taught school twenty one and a half years in the Whiteville city school system and worked in social services two and a half years. She received her Masters Degree from UNC Chapel Hill, two Associates Degrees from SCC and a Bachelors of Science at UNC Pembroke. She was a member in her church choir and a Sunday school teacher.

She is survived by a son, William S. White (Connie) of Fuquay-Varina, NC, daughter in law, Lisa White; grandsons, Herbert R. White II (Molly), Bill Gore (Anna); granddaughters, Whitney White, Kelly White, Bobbie McManus (Mike), Dawn McMillan, Lindsey Wallace, Ashley Farmer; great grandchildren, Colten Farmer, Hayden White, Barrett White, Will Gore, Grace Gore, Emily Wallace, Hannah McManus, Wyatt McMillan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert H. White; daughter, Sharon D. White; son, Herbert Ray "Bimbo" White, grandson, William J. White, and her parents.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, December 8, 2025 at Western Prong Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to her service at the church.
