Clyde Soles

Mr. Clyde Soles, 85, of Whiteville, passed Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Lower Cape Fear Lifecare.  He was born July 8, 1935, in Columbus County, the son of the late Reatha Bell Soles.

Mr. Soles was a First Class Lineman with Stackhouse, Inc. and Sumter Builders for 44 years. He loved his work and the men he worked with.  He was always anxious to go out on storm work, hurricanes, ice, snow, no matter the conditions.  He always enjoyed working with his fellow Linemen, especially Tony Sellers who is now with BEMC.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Wayne Soles, mother, Reatha Bell Soles Tanner and sister, Lela Driggers.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lynda Bowen Soles; son, Tim Collins of Whiteville; two daughters, Linda Greene and husband, Eddie of Clarendon, Wendy C. Morgan and husband, Todd of Sutherland, VA; daughter-in-law, Angela Soles of Hartsville, SC; grandchildren, Josh Greene, Holly Snelson, Tanya Soles, Buck Reynolds, Haley Collins, Noah Collins, Jacob Collins, Aaron Morgan and wife, Jessi, Adam Morgan and wife, Lauren; two great grandchildren; two special little grands, Christopher and Catherine Bui; brother, Juny Soles of Walden, NY; sister, Lucy Hyatt of Rock Hill, SC.

His funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will be in the Peacock’s Columbus Memorial Park.
