Mr. David Alton Baker, 85 of Whiteville passed on Monday, October 2, 2023 in Columbus Regional Healthcare.  He was born in Barnstable County MA, the son of the late Alton Baker and Frances Burton Baker. 

Mr. Baker  retired from the National Grid Gas Co. after 30 years.  He was a veteran having served in the US Navy.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Marion Hamilton Baker; sons, Daniel Baker (Susan) and David R. Baker both of Harwich, MA; stepsons, Jeff Thomas (Wendy) of Whiteville and Edward Thomas of W. {Palm Beach, Fl; two step daughters, Tonya Thomas and Rebecca Thomas both of Florence, SC; grandchildren, Hannah Baker, Heidi Baker; seven step grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Elizabeth and Frances; a brother, Winthrop (Bud) Baker.

His family is planning a private memorial service at a later date.
