Marshall McDonald (Donald) Congleton, age 91 passed away peacefully at Lower Cape Fear Life Care in Wilmington, NC on March 26, 2021.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Frances Carroll Congleton; his three children, Don Congleton and Jeff Congleton (Debbie) both of Riegelwood, NC, and Anita Congleton Hall (Scott) of Winston Salem, NC; five grandchildren: Steven Congleton (Jessica )of Leland, Emily Congleton Benton (Kevin) of Hallsboro, Ethan Congleton (Haley) of Delco, Randall Hall of Winston-Salem and Kylee Jo Congleton of Riegelwood, NC; three great-grandchildren: Grace, Colbie, and Scarlet Congleton all of Leland, NC; four siblings: Alex Congleton (Eva), Marjorie Neve and Joyce Watkins all of Wilmington, and Franklin D. (Buster) Congleton (Wilma) of Florida.
Donald was born to Tom and Sudie (Squires) Congleton of Delco, NC. He attended Acme-Delco High School, joined the Navy and served for 4 years during the Korean War. He then returned home to marry Frances Carroll and began working at Federal Paper Company in Riegelwood where he retired after forty-five years of service. Donald was a member of Riegelwood Baptist Church where he attended faithfully and served as a deacon. Donald loved the beach, fishing and woodworking. However, his great joy was being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Riegelwood Baptist Church beginning at 11:00am on Monday March 29, 2021. The service will immediately follow the visitation followed by a private family graveside service.
