Doris Carolyn Strickland Gore, 91, of Tabor City passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026 in her home. Born in Columbus County she was the daughter of the late Fred Strickland, Sr. and Grace Hardie Strickland. She was known as "the Christmas Lady". She loved Christmas and would decorate multiple trees during Christmas time.
She is survived by one daughter, Ginger Gore, Lake Waccamaw and one son, Nickey Gore (Wendy) of Tabor City, Four grandchildren, Cameron Byrd, Blake Byrd, Savannah Gore Nye, Chase Gore, three Great grandchildren, Haiden Byrd, Braxton Byrd and Saylor Nye.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lee "Bobby" Gore, two brothers, Henry Strickland and Fred Strickland, Jr.; two sisters, Margaret Strickland and Katherine Deloch.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the Iron Hill Baptist Church, 22247 Peacock Rd- Tabor City with visitation at 10:00 AM prior to memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iron Hill Baptist Church Building Fund at 22247 Peacock Rd, Tabor City, NC 28463.
