Garry Gene Reaves

Mr. Garry Gene Reaves, 68, of Whiteville, passed Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at his home.  He was born November 27, 1952 son of the late Leon Reaves and Ila Dae Gore Reaves.

He attended Gore’s Chapel Baptist Church.  He coached Dixie Youth Baseball for more than 30 years.  He coached Dixie Softball for 10 years and was also a volunteer/coach at Old Dock Elementary School and Nakina Middle School.  Garry was inducted into the Dixie Youth Boys Dixie Youth Wall of Fame in Nakina.

Mr. Reaves was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Catherine Smith Reaves, his parents, a brother, Leon Scott Reaves and a sister, Jackie Lane Reaves.

He is survived by two daughters, Claudette R. Lee and husband, Rodney of Whiteville, Necole R. Babson and husband, Scott of Nakina; five grandchildren, Hayley Ross (Frankie), Hannah Lee (Zeke), Meghan Lee (Reid), Madelyn Babson and Scotlynn Babson; three great grandchildren, Sawyer Levi Godwin, Hadley Grove Ross and Haizen Grier Ross; brother, Wayne Reaves and wife, Dinah of Whiteville; sister, Rita Reaves of Carolina Beach.

His Service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, December 21, 2020 at Gore’s Chapel Baptist Church.  Burial will be in Gore’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
