Howard Jackson Ward

Mr. Howard Jackson Ward, 88, of Crusoe Island Road, Whiteville passed away on December 2, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Columbus County, the son of the late John Henry and Estelle Long Ward. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was a retired roofer having worked with a local roofing company for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Long Ward; two daughters, Ruby Ezzell and husband, Timmy of Whiteville and Melissa Ward, of Whiteville; a brother, Jessie Ward and wife, Alice Faye of Leland; four sisters, Sena Mae Etheridge and husband, Woody of Whiteville, Maxine Brock (Jackie) of Whiteville, Marcell Etheridge of Whiteville and Ilene Phipps and husband, Gene of Fayetteville.

He is preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Rosie Long (Dewey), Mattie Etheridge (Roscoe), Vada Russ and Lucille Godwin (Cecil); three brothers, Buris Ward (Mary), Lewis Ward and Elbert Ward (Vera Mae).

Funeral service will be conducted12:00 noon Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Peacock's Chapel with Rev. Irvin Etheridge officiating. The family will receive friends 11:00-12:00 prior to the service. Interment will be in Peacock's Columbus Memorial Park.
