James Worth Dowless, Sr.

Mr. James Worth Dowless, Sr., 84, of Bolton, passed Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.  He was born July 16, 1936, in Columbus County, the son of the late Samuel Anderson Dowless and Gladys Nye Dowless.

James was a Veteran who served in the United States Army for three years and the United States Air Force for four years.  He was employed with International Paper for twenty years and Lincoln Construction in Leland for twenty years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Dowless.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Annie Shepherd Dowless; son, James Worth Dowless, Jr. and wife, Melissa of Bolton; two grandchildren, Amanda Dowless and Taylor Dowless; great granddaughter, Aaliyah Green; brother, Joseph Dowless and wife, Margie of Rockingham.

His graveside service with Military Honors will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at Carvers Creek Methodist Church Cemetery.
