James (Tank) Buren Kirkendoll, II of Whiteville, NC, was called home by his Heavenly Father on July 6, 2020 while at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center. He was born September 2, 1946 in Pasadena, Texas, the son of the late James B. Kirkendoll, I and Cora Agnes Hedrick.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William L. Perkins.
James graduated from Garinger High School in Charlotte, NC in 1964. He worked in the produce and meat department at Park-N-Shop in Charlotte and Red and White in Bolivia before working as a mechanic for Brunswick County Sanitation Department.
He loved to go fishing as well as watching fishing shows. He was an avid Duke Blue Devils basketball and NASCAR FAN! One of his favorite things to do was to go clamming with his mama.
James is survived by his brother, Kenneth (Kenny) Hedrick and Kenny's long time girlfriend, Deborah L. Blackman of Whiteville; a loving sister, Mary Leviner of W. Columbia, SC; several nieces and nephews, Mary Alice and Joe, Karen and Kerry, Jack, Dawn, Harold and Lori, Heather and Terry, Catherine, Jerry, Brittany, Max, Alyssa and Jayceon. He also leaves behind his beloved babies, his cats.
