James Mitchell 66, of the St. James Community, Lake Waccamaw, NC, departed this life on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Angel House in Whiteville, NC. He was born November 10, 1957, the son of the late James and Roberta Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene Mitchell; three children, Myra Mitchell (Felton) of Bolton, Ashlee and Colby Mitchell both of the home; four grandchildren, Destiny Mitchell, Kendall Mitchell, Hayden Spaulding and Jordan Bowen; five brothers, Jeffrey (Pam), Jerry (Charlotte), Timmy (Frances), Ricky and Terry (Shevonda); one sister, Glenda Mitchell.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Thursday June 27, 2024 at Peacock Funeral Home with the Rev. Allan Locklear, Rev, Kurt Locklear and Brother Cordovian McMillan officiating. Burial will follow in the St. James Missionary Baptist Church cemetery. 

His visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday June 26, 2024 at Peacock Funeral Home.
