James Ward Phillips, Jr.

Mr. James "Jimmy" Ward Phillips, Jr. 78, passed Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Lower 
Cape Fear Lifecare Center, Whiteville. He was born August 9, 1941 in Lumberton, the son of the late James Ward Phillips, Sr. and Emily Hilburn Phillips.

Mr. Phillips was formerly employed with M. H. McLean Co. in Lumberton and New Bern Oil & Fertilizer Co.  He was a member of Western Prong Baptist Church.  He retired from the NC National Guard after 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Grey Creech Phillips; sons, James W. Phillips, III of Whiteville, Charles Phillips and wife, Mimi of Raleigh, William Phillips of Whiteville; grandchildren, Briana Phillips, Kayla Phillips and Brian Phillips.

He was preceded in death by a son, David Phillips and a sister, Jane Deal.

His funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday June 23, 2020 graveside at Western Prong Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Ronnie Wilson.
